Abraham Levy Lima
- Pintura
Born in 1948 from among 11 brothers on the island of Santo Antão, Abraham Levy-Lima is descended from a Jewish family established in Cape Verde at the beginning of the 19th century. Although beginning as farmers (mainly coffee) and then following the road of commerce, a certain aptitude for drawing and painting was developed throughout the generations. Son of an illustrator and watercolorist father, Abraham completed his secondary studies in Mindelo - São Vicente Island. In the 60's and 18, he left for Lisbon to pursue his studies in Engineering, but influenced by his brother David and the genetic inheritance that was transmitted to him, he opted for painting. Dedicated to the Portuguese Plastic Arts and influenced by the Flemish, American and Russian schools, Abraham developed a very own style based on a deep research of History, sailing art and epic narratives of naval battles. Thus, its artistic focus goes through the historical vessels, the landscape and still life, the nautical and the Lisboetas registers. Considered by critics as a hyperrealist Urban Landscape Artist, Portuguese Realist Painter and Portuguese Naturalist Painter, Abraham identifies himself above all as an Artist, self-taught Creator of self-taught training, who uses the technique of painting in his professional artistic activity.
