An instrumentalist, arranger and producer, he lived in the Netherlands for almost 30 years, before returning to Cape Verde. The music in his life began at the time he studied at the seminar in Praia.
From the age of 15, he was part of a group called "Os Camponeses", which included saxophonist Nónó, later a member of Bulimundo and Frank de Pina on drums, among others. They played at parties and dances in the interior of Santiago.
He left Cape Verde in 1982, heading for Portugal, where he played in nightclubs, recorded with various artists, worked with the group África Star and Paulino Vieira among others.
After almost three decades of emigration, from 2011 he lives in Praia, works at the Ministry of Culture and plays in places with live music. Since his creation, he has been a member of the National Orchestra of Cape Verde.
