He was born in Sal and disembarked in Lisbon at the age of 15. He completed his high school studies and, at the appropriate time, he was admitted to the Lisbon City Hall where he remained until his retirement, as Head of Services.
Marino Silva, since arriving in this capital, has been concerned with perfecting the art of his guitar, an instrument with which he had become familiar at Sal. He met Mestre, Luís Rendall, and other meritorious players, including Armando Tito, Sátiro dos Santos and Frank Mimita. As a vocalist, he also got to know Fernando Quejas. He participated several times in the program "Serão dos Trabalhadores", of the then National Broadcasting Company.
Between 1958 and 1977, Marino Silva says he recorded six LPs and twelve EPs. From the 1980s on, he moved away from the studios. When he resumes his musical activities, it is only in small circles, among friends, or in spaces of the Cape Verdean community that he presents himself. Anyway, music for this artist has always been a hobby.
