Fulgêncio Circuncisão Lopes Tavares (Ano Nobo)
- Compositor
His life as a composer began around the 1950s, at Achada de Santo António, with the Morna "July" that would be recorded by the late Frank Mimita. At the same time, he composed his first coladeira "Ta Pinga Tchapo-Tchapo", which would be a great success, as it was sung and recorded by Bana, Ildo Lobo and the group "Os Tubarões" and also Gardénia Benrós.
Since then, his vein as a poet and composer has not stopped producing, including more than four hundred compositions, including mornas and coladeiras, but also merengues, sambas, mazurcas, funanás, marches, waltzes, religious hymns and also songs of "batuku" and "tabanka".
Many of these songs were composed for immediate interpretation in the parish hall of S. Domingos, since Ano Nobo, especially during the seventies, was a precious collaborator of the parish of S. Nicolau Tolentino, dedicating much of his time to the animation of youth, either through music or through theater.
Many of Ano Nobo's songs have gained national and even international projection, as they were performed and recorded on record by well-known artists, such as those already mentioned above, but also Dany Silva, Zeca di Nha Reinalda, Maria de Barros, Mariana Ramos, Maria Alice, Manuel Candinho, etc.. This last interpreter, one of the best Cape Verdean guitarists of today, who has had a successful career in Holland, was one of the many disciples of Master Ano Nobo. Among the most successful compositions are "Adelaide", "Linda", "Lolinha", "Falsia di Tanha", "Ta PingaTchapo-Tchapo", "Baíno", "Ressana Godim" or "Camarada Pépé Lope".
