António Silva Ramos (Antôn Tchitche)
- Compositor
From a family originally from St. Nicholas, Anton Tchitche was a wealthy merchant up to a certain point in his life. In his home of vast offspring, music was breathed. It was there that the talent of the pianist Tututa and the beautiful voice of Tchufe, two of his children, flourished under his instruction.
Tututa associates the father with the emergence of the coladera in the early 1930s, as a result of the acceleration of the rhythm of the morna.
A text possibly written by B. Léza says the same thing, and adds that he would also be the creator of the " Vincentian morna, ironic and effusive where we find the idiosyncratic note of the mindelense type". In these mornas, "António Tchitcho teased and underlined in a spicy style, but in a subtle and delicious toada, the failures of the girls and the ridiculous ones of his time.
In the category of "Morna Vicentina" the text includes the following themes: Viana, Mã Bia mata bébé, Remá contra maré, Nho cansado and Joana Maninha and remembers that the composer was not only a "caricature genre" pointing out other mornas - Camponesa linda, Meu bem and Canção alada - as being of "high modalities" and dedicated to the woman who would become his wife.
Most of his compositions, some in Portuguese, were unpublished in terms of recording, but they went from mouth to mouth in São Vicente. Moacyr Rodrigues in A morna in traditional literature lists some: Santo António de Lisboa, Santa Cruz, Dia 15, Sono tormentod, Destino and Lombiana.
