António Vaz Cabral, known as Ntoni Denti d'oro, was born on February 15, 1926, in the municipality of São Domingos, began with 10 years of age began to dedicate himself to batuku and finaçon, having as master Miranda Tavares.

Throughout his life he never abandoned this musical expression and peculiar culture of the Iha de Santiago, so much so that today he is among the few to dominate the secrets of this art and there are many young people who resort to it and get rich, in an attempt to prevent the disappearance of batuku. Coming from a poor family of farmers, since childhood was very attached to his country and its culture, which makes him today a very prominent character in the cultural environment, especially in everything that refers to batuku, one of the oldest musical expressions of Cape Verde.

For several years he travelled all over the island of Santiago, as well as other islands of Cape Verde, animating popular festivals, baptisms, engagements and weddings. In 1973, he tried his luck abroad, but on April 25, 1974, he decided to return to Cape Verde to wait for Cape Verde's independence, which would take place on July 5, 1975.

After the release of his first album in 1998, Ntoni Denti d'oro returned to Europe and also traveled to the United States to promote his work.
