Nelson Lobo
- Pintura
Nelson Lobo, born in Cruz de Picos (Santa Catarina de Santiago) in 1952, attended several artistic schools in Europe, including the Higher School of Fine Arts of Lisbon and the "Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten" in Rotterdam, having also attended a course of fine arts in Paris.
His first contact with painting was even before he went to high school and the proceeds from the sale of a work allowed him to finance a trip to Lisbon to study Fine Arts. However, his artistic individuality soon began to take shape with his anti-colonialist drawings, images that drowned his thoughts and demonstrated his political predilections. He exhibited for the first time in the City of Praia, in 1969 and, in 1971, held his second solo exhibition of painting in São Vicente, where he also presented about twenty pieces of sculpture made with cassava roots.
