Jorge Pedro Barbosa, the eldest son of the poet Jorge Barbosa, was born on the island of Sal, Cape Verde, in 1933. His secondary education took him to the Liceu de Gil Eanes, in the city of Mindelo. He worked in the islands of S. Vicente, Santiago and Fogo. He later settled in the United States, where he worked for the Brazilian airline Varig. Today retired, he lives in New York.
