An excellent composer, Lela de Maninha leaves an unavoidable mark on our music. Cesária Évora and Titina Rodrigues immortalized this distinguished son of São Vicente and Cape Verde. It is worth mentioning Cesária's CD whose title, "São Vicente di Longe", derives from the beautiful composition of the same name in which Lela de Maninha pays homage to the tenacity of her countrymen in the fight against the adversities of daily life.
